According to Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen on Monday, South Africa's agricultural exports to the United States rose by 26% in the second quarter due to strong harvests. However, future shipments might be affected by a 30% tariff imposed by President Donald Trump. South Africa is pushing for lower tariffs in a proposed trade agreement with the U.S., as it currently faces the highest tariff rate in Sub-Saharan Africa. The United States is South Africa's second-largest bilateral trading partner, after China.
