Since Monday, officials report that over 30 boats carrying about 600 irregular migrants have arrived in Spain's Balearic Islands. This marks the rise of a new migratory route from North Africa, emerging after authorities intensified measures at other departure locations. Overall, irregular migration to Spain has declined this year; nonetheless, it has increased by 170% in the Balearics during the first half of the year, reaching approximately 3,000 people, according to official data. The number of boats, mainly departing from Algeria, has more than doubled.
