Over 800 wildfires are currently raging across Canada, leading to air quality alerts that have spread into several states in the United States.

A dense layer of smoke has obscured the skylines from Detroit and Toronto to New York and throughout New England, resulting in "hazardous" air quality warnings for much of the area.

Numerous outdoor events have been canceled as officials advised residents to remain indoors, emphasizing the serious health risks associated with inhaling the smoke.

In Canada, a wildfire in northern Ontario has compelled residents from local First Nations to evacuate, with one chief reporting that her community has been "reduced to ashes."

Numerous outdoor activities were called off on Thursday, which included events for children's summer camps, and beaches were closed along well-frequented lakes. An outdoor concert featuring the rock band The Black Keys is being postponed in Chicago due to hazardous air quality.

At present, there are 858 fires actively raging in Canada, with 30 new fires igniting on Thursday, as reported by the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. The overwhelming majority of these fires are burning uncontrollably.
