Switzerland's attorney general has imposed a fine of 3.5 million Swiss francs ($4.3 million) on the Swiss private bank J. Safra Sarasin SA as part of a prolonged corruption and money laundering investigation involving the Brazilian state oil company Petrobras, as announced on Friday.
In a statement, the highest office of Swiss prosecutors indicated that the bank had reached a settlement with Petrobras, a party in the case, amounting to 16 million francs, and thus no additional compensation payment is required.
