Deployment of the D.C. National Guard

US military personnel may soon be stationed in a city close to you. During a visit to a US Park Police facility on Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed intentions to broaden his law enforcement and National Guard operations to additional areas. In a post on Truth Social early Friday, Trump commended the efforts of law enforcement and the National Guard: "Washington, D.C. is SAFE AGAIN! The crowds are returning, the morale is high, and our D.C. National Guard and Police are performing exceptionally well." However, contrary to his assertions, economic activity in D.C. is declining. There has been a noticeable decrease in patrons at local restaurants, and foot traffic in retail sectors has dropped by over 80% compared to figures from the previous year. The president's initiative also includes the removal of homeless encampments, yet it remains uncertain where authorities are relocating individuals after their tents are taken down.
