Oil prices rise following a warning from the United States regarding sanctions on Russia

Oil prices rebounded on Wednesday after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested that sanctions on Russia or additional tariffs could be heightened if the upcoming meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday does not yield positive results. By 1243 GMT, Brent crude futures had risen by 6 cents to $66.18 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures went up by 2 cents to $63.19.
