A gunman opened fire in a Target parking lot in Austin, Texas, on Monday afternoon, killing at least three people, including a child. Authorities stated that two victims died at the scene, while a third was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. A fourth person was treated for injuries unrelated to gunfire. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis reported that the suspect allegedly stole a vehicle from the parking lot, crashed it, and then hijacked a Volkswagen from a nearby dealership. Officers captured him about 20 miles away, according to Davis. The suspect, described as a White male in his 30s with a "mental health history" and prior criminal records, has not been publicly identified. The motive for the shooting is still unknown. This incident comes just over two weeks after a stabbing attack in a Walmart parking lot in Traverse City, Michigan, where 11 people were injured.
