The Israeli military killed Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif late Sunday, claiming he led a Hamas cell. Al-Sharif, a prominent 28-year-old journalist reporting from Gaza, had denied this accusation. The attack occurred near Al-Shifa Hospital's entrance in Gaza City, also killing six others, including at least three more Al Jazeera journalists. Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, the hospital director, mentioned that the journalists were in a tent marked "Press." The Committee to Protect Journalists noted that 186 journalists have died since the war began nearly two years ago, with at least 178 being "Palestinians killed by Israel." Just before his death, Al-Sharif posted on social media: "If this madness does not end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop."
