In a solemn and moving ceremony, Dr. Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed were laid to rest at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra. These two men were among the eight courageous individuals who tragically lost their lives in the recent helicopter crash that profoundly impacted the nation. Family members, government officials, military personnel, and loved ones gathered to pay their last respects to these esteemed statesmen, who both dedicated their lives to serving Ghana with honor and distinction. Their burial, marked by military honors and Islamic rites, reflected the deep respect the nation holds for their contributions and sacrifices. Ghana continues to mourn their loss, even as their legacy remains firmly rooted in the country’s history as patriots who gave their all to their duties. Dr. Murtala Mohammed served as the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, while Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed was the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator. President John Mahama offered prayers for divine mercy and a place in Paradise for the late Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Lumina. During his address at their burial on Sunday, August 10, at the Military Cemetery, the President stated, “Today is not a day for speeches, and I find it exceedingly challenging to articulate my thoughts, thus I simply express my gratitude and pray that God grants them Paradise, and may their memory also serve as a guiding light for us.”
